Hi Peacebang. I have a product recommendation for you for your Autumn skin column. DHC's Velvet Skin Coat is an amazing product -- it goes on after the moisturizer, before the (on casual days instead of) foundation. It's sort of a cream, sort of a powder, and it is unbelievably moisturizing -- very important in dry New England. Anyway, I was sort of floored when I tried the sample (DHC give out free samples with a purchase). Give it a shot if you have dry skin.

Best wishes,

Donna in Mass

I am so glad to hear something about DHC. I asked many weeks ago on this blog whether anyone was familiar with them and what y'all thought. (I mentioned the samples, I think.) More recommendations or critiques, anyone?

I'm partial to Nature's Gate's "Have a Vine Day" moisturizer, made from chardonnay grapes, among other things. They got me cause a) they gave out free samples, b) they're all-natural mostly sort of, and c) I love the pun. Mostly c), to be honest. BUT it does nice things for my combination-and-sensitive skin, so I've got that going for me.

I have just decided to try out Cosmedicine skin products - not inexpensive!! As a teenager with acne, my mother took me to Georgette Klinger, so I am biased.

Nevertheless, these products are the only ones i know of that have been tested by independent labs and have precise figures for differences seen. I'm only on day two - so all I can tell you is that they feel great!

Caroline Devine, I'm a huge fan of the DHC skin care line (not the colors, however -- they just seem to disappear on me, giving me that charming -wow-she-has-great-skin-bug-couldn't-she-have-put-on-some-lipstick" look.
(sigh)) Anyway, you asked for additional product recs. I have super dry, over 30 (cough-forty-cough) skin, so bear that in mind. This is what I can't live without: velvet skin coat, olive oil facial cleanser (great in the shower), moisture (stick under the eyes), and their oil-based foundation is great on me. Lighter than the Aveda foundation, and longer lasting. Only four colors, however, but if you happen to match one of the four, it's a great product.

Like I said, I'm not a fan of the colors. On me (or on people with dry skin) they seem to fade instantly, and the lipstick and glosses have the texture of elmer's glue. ick. But the skincare line is wonderful.

Ok, enough with this. (Fwiw, I don't work for the company in case my scathing opinion of the lipstick doesn't make that crystal clear. (grin))
